In his video, Kher expressed, “It’s such a wonderful feeling to see Yashji’s name on this train. Yashji, you are incredible. The moments I shared with you are the most precious of my life, and witnessing your name on a train in this snowy wonderland is unforgettable. I miss you dearly. You are the best. To have a train named in your honor at this breathtaking location is simply amazing. Jai Ho, Jai Ho. Yashji, you are truly great.”
He also shared a heartfelt caption, stating, “Yash Chopra and Switzerland: It’s astonishing how one individual’s cinematic vision can transform a country’s tourism landscape! This is precisely what I observed during my visit. Almost every spot here bears the #YashChopra mark in Switzerland! His portraits, statues, trains named after him, Bollywood-themed restaurants, signboards in Hindi, and countless Indian tourists (sic).”
Kher continued, “I feel incredibly honored and proud to have spent so much time with him, in addition to being part of numerous #YRF films. Yash ji – you will always be the GREATEST! Jai Ho. #Cinema #Magic #SwitzerlandDiaries.”
The Yash Chopra Train is a unique Swiss train dedicated to the iconic Indian filmmaker by the Swiss government. After decades of featuring Switzerland’s stunning landscapes in his films such as Silsila, Chandni, and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Yash Chopra became an unofficial ambassador for Swiss tourism in India. In 2011, as a tribute, the Jungfrau Railways named one of their Stadler-built trains the “Yash Chopra Train.”
This train operates in the Bernese Oberland region, frequently traveling the route from Kleine Scheidegg to Jungfraujoch, famously known as the Top of Europe. It has become a favorite among tourists, featuring a commemorative plaque and visuals celebrating Chopra’s cinematic legacy.
